I read an argument on twitter between two folks. They were arguing about whether people should pay for music at all any more, with one side saying he’ll never pay for music again. “Musicians have to wake up and realize that they’re not getting a free ride any more. We’re not paying for their rock n roll lifestyles.”
I thought about this for a while. Then looked through the record collection that I’d bought bit by bit over the years wondering if i’d been had by other musicians. Then I looked around the living room of my friends one bedroom flat where I’ve been living for the past 6 months, at the trusty old couch that’s been my bed, and the stack of boxes and bags in the corner which hold all of my clothes. It’s not really rock and roll. And I never wanted it to be. My ambitions stretch as far as wanting to have my own flat and be able to put a decent pair of shoes on my daughters feet.
It’d be nice to have just one job rather than two, one being solely to fund the bands tours and such. We don’t all want to have a lifestyle like Bono you know. Will we make another record? Probably, we love being with each other and making music together. Will we release it? I hope so.
This isn’t a rant. Just something I wanted to say. Many thanks to everyone for all of your support with the new album. It really does mean a lot to us and we hope you like the content as well as the way that Denovali have helped us to present to you. Tom x

We are sure you are all aware of the devastating flooding in Pakistan that has affected the lives of over 21 million people.
In addition to this, the floods have damaged the infrastructure of Pakistan for many years to come, destroyed homes, made transport for aid very difficult as well as submerging crops and livestock. Damages are in their tens of billions. The aid provided has been relatively small when compared to other disasters and the numbers of people involved.
We have been particularly appalled by the lack of coverage and aid that seems to have been given for Pakistan in its time of need. This is still a current concern and is already being treated by some as yesterdays news which simply, in our view, should not be allowed to happen.
In addition to our own personal donations, we would like to initiate a fundraiser for our listeners to get involved. We were inspired by the generosity that many of you showed earlier in the year in our bid to raise money for aid following the Haiti Earthquake. This time we hope to raise a good deal more money. Our aim is to raise funds to aid Oxfam with their support for people effected by the disaster at this time.
Oxfam currently have humanitarian efforts in place to help over 1 million people. Amongst other things, they are currently providing medical aid, installing water pumps and repairing wells, building shelters and providing hygiene kits. More on Oxfam’s efforts can be read here
Using Pledge Music, we have a number of different options for things such as letterpressed lyric booklets, private shows, an EP and a host of other goodies. We realize that some of the things may at first glance seem expensive, but we encourage you to think of what is at stake and maybe team together with friends.
